·         The junior girls volleyball team participated in their first tournament yesterday.  After being down 10 points the first game they came back to win the set 25-24 and the second set 25-12. They came first in their pool but lost in the quarter final game.

 

·         The Senior Jazz Ensemble will be auditioning to fill the position of bassist in this exciting group beginning in January.  This ensemble plays music in all sorts of styles including swing, Latin, funk and rock at school concerts, community events and music competitions.  Rehearsals take place on Thursdays after school from 3:00 – 4:20. You must be able to read music and have a positive attitude.  If you are interested come by the music room to arrange a time to audition for Mr Clarke.

 

·         The Canadian Government has declared Dec 6th a National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.  We should take time today to reflect  on how each of us can work toward a peaceful world and what we can do to help make our own community a peaceful place to live.

 

·         To every student who bought tickets to Winter Wonderland; this Monday is the last day to return your contract signed.  If not you won’t be able to attend the dance!

 

·         There is only 1 more week to collect your change for the We Create Change Campaign.  So far the classes who have raised the most are Mr Murphy’s class in 3rd place, Ms Adams class in 2nd and Ms Anjos class in 1st.  There is still time to collect so bring in your change to your period 5 class to win a Pizza party and make a difference in the world.

 

·         If you registered for the Duke of Edinburgh’s award the participant handbooks are in.  Come to Guidance to pick up your book.  Books will be available at the meeting which is taking place after school on Monday in the Library.

 

·         On Tuesday, December 16th from 5:30 – 8:30- come on down to the Boston Pizza on Winston Park Dr by the Cineplex theatre.  For this day only your very own OT students will be waiting tables with up to 15% of the night’s total sales going towards Relay 4 Life.  Bring everyone you possibly can because any group with more than 10 people gets entered to win a super awesome prize.

 

·         Just a reminder that we will be watching Elf today in the café during periods 3 & 4.  Make sure to come out with y our friends and get in the Christmas spirit.

 

·         Yesterday our varsity boys hockey team traveled to Toronto to participate in the Brother Aurther Memorial Hockey tournament.  The boys first game was against East York of Toronto.  Despite being tied  0-0 at the end of the first the Devils turned it on and won going away 7-0.  Scoring for the Devils was Luke Roy, Kyle Hatherall, Enis Dal, Jordan Boulding, Liam Coderre and Robbie Fornasiero with a pair.
