·        The boys’ varsity soccer team started their regular season yesterday.  They put up a strong fight but lost to Nelson.  Please dismiss the team at 12:15 today for their game against Loyola.


·        For all grade 12’s playing gotcha make sure you report your kills or if you have been killed to Emily D’Silva, Carter Sanders, Sydney Newton or Ian deSouza.  It is important to track the kills because we will announce who achieved the most kills.


·        Don’t forget to enter your creative writing pieces in OT’s writing contest,  “We are Writers”.  Entries are due to the library by May 1st so get started today.  The poster with the image prompts is available on the school website.  1st prize for each category is $75.00.


·        It’s Earth Week, how about reducing your ecological footprint by walking, biking, boarding or blading to school instead of having your parents drive you?  Remember a small action made by many people makes a difference.


·        An Important message from the co-op dept:  TV Cogeco offers co-op placements to students.  Students will have the opportunity to work out of the Cogeco studios as well as on the mobile production unit.  Students will work directly with a staff producer.  You must interview for a position with Cogeco and applications are due in May.  See Mrs Stearns-Brown in room 136 for details.


·        Attention all you rock stars.  If your band wants to play at Springfest you must come to a meeting on Thursday right after school in room 166.


·        For those writing the A.P. Economics exams there will be a brief meeting after school today in room 232.


·        Philanthropy Club is running a 50/50 draw.  Buy your tickets in the atrium periods 3 & 4, $2 for 1 ticket or $5 for 3.  Ticket sales end tomorrow.


·        Did you know that 57% of Halton citizens volunteer regularly?  This week is National Volunteer Week.  Posted around the school and outside of the Lunch Buddies room is information about Volunteer Halton’s new mobile app.  You can search volunteer opportunities, log your hours and connect via social media.


·        Important message from thh co-op dept; Trillium Hospital, Sick Kids Hospital and St Mike’s Hospital applications will be due in May.  If you are interested in a co-op position at any of these hospitals you must see Mrs Stearns-Brown in room 136 for the information.


·        Yesterday the varsity girls’ soccer team opened their season with a 3-3 tie against the Lady Lords of Nelson.
