  • Hey OT, come out today after school and watch the Jr and Sr boys volleyball team play Nelson.  Its our first home game so come out and be loud.

 

  • Attention McGill and Upper Canada Model UN delegates!  The meeting this week will take place Thursday 27th after school.

 

  • If you are interested in human rights regarding gender and sexuality, check out the Rights and Inclusion at OT club ( RIOT club)  We meet in room 208 after school today and every Wednesday after.

 

  • Hey OT, load up on your school clothes with plaid flannel pants, yoga pants, shirts, hoodies and more.  Get your order forms at the Devils Pit and submit them by Oct 15th.  You will receive your clothes by mid—November.

 

  • Spar Aerospace, the company who made the Canadarm, and components of the Mars Rover is doing an awesome presentation in the Comm tech room on Thurs after school.

 

  • Baseball is back at OT!  There will be a meeting for all grade 9-12 boys after school today in room 153, the health room.

 

  • Attention DECA members, you may now sign up for call times in room 232.

 

  • Art club is starting up again.  Come to room 162 after school every Thursday to experience snacks and crafts.  This week we will be discussing plans for the haunted house.

 

  • Guidance is looking for paid student tutors.  If you are a grade 11 or 12 student with strong marks in one or more subjects and have a desire to help other students you should come to the guidance office to pick up an application form.  Forms are due back by Wed Oct 3rd 

 

  • This is a reminder to grade 12 students of the Scholarship Application workshops that are happening during the lunch periods today.  The period 3 session will be in room 232 and the period 4 session will be in 226.

 

  • Students in grade 9 –11 that might be considering going to University in the U. S. there is a meeting tonight in the library for you and your parents.  At 6:30 there will be a session on Athletic Recruiting followed by a U.S. College admissions session at 7:45. 

 

  • Today is the day the Duke of Ed Award club has its information meeting.  Come out to the library after school for more information.

 

  • OTHS’s first “fat day” will be tomorrow.  This is one of 10 days OTHS can use to sell anything we want regardless of whether it is healthy or not.    Clubs remember to participate and students remember to bring money as 50 % of the proceeds will be supporting the Terry Fox Foundation.

 

  • OTHS has the opportunity of participating in the National Spread the Net challenge.  The challenge is supported by Rick Mercer and raises money to buy insecticide treated nets for children in Africa.  The school that raises the most money and beats out every other school in Canada is featured on the Rick Mercer Report.  If you are interested in helping to organize this project meet in the café on Monday Oct 1st after school.

 

  • Friday will be Spirit Day so everyone wear red and black.

 

  • Its that time of year again where the RDC is seeking grade 9 reps.  To become a grade rep create a couple of posters to be put up around the school and write a brief paragraph explaining why you would like to become a grade rep.  Six grade 9 reps will be announced at the end of the day Wednesday.  Also if you are in grade 10 –12 we are looking for 2 more reps from each grade, so drop off your posters and paragraphs to the RDC office periods 3 & 4 by tomorrow.
