  • HEY OTHS!  At Relay for Life this year, we are having our very first juggling workshop.  If you would like to participate, the sign up sheet is posted in the devil’s pit.  Hurray OTHS, before spots fill up!


  • It was a rough start to the junior boys soccer game against Garth Webb yesterday, with a score of 2-2 at halftime.  The boys did pull it together to win 5-3. Let’s do it again tomorrow, we’ll see you at 8 am at Norton Park in Burlington.


  • Students that are participating in the Relay for Life event, please come by and decorate your luminary during period 3 & 4 lunch.  When you registered you all paid for 1 luminary. All of your beautiful decorated luminaries will be displayed at Relay.


  • Hey OTHS!  The Relay for Life Coffee House performance list has been posted in the devil’s pit.  If you are one of the performers, go check it and take a picture. Look forward to all the performances!


  • If you have received a Relay for Life pledge form, you MUST return it to the Relay for Life office or Ms. Hanley regardless if you are fundraising cash or not.  Even if you are not participating anymore. If not returned, you must pay a $125 fee.


  • A special announcement for those students who have traditional costumes from different countries around the world!  At Relay, from 3:30 - 4:00, there will be an opportunity to participate in a “Culture Lap”! Bring your traditional costumes for this special lap!

·         There will be a Free the Children meeting today after school in room 190.  New members are welcome.

 

·         As you know this week is Relay week.  We have prizes for 2 teams, the team with the most money raised and the team with the most “Dream Team” points.  A list of ways to earn points has been emailed out.  Teams are able to earn points leading up to Friday with our Spirit Week, as well as by participating at all of our awesome events at Relay.

 

·         Attention OTthe top fundraisers for Relay are; in third place- Steve Anthony, in second place- Courtney Squires and in first place Emma Macartney.  Stay tuned for some awesome prizes.  If you want tips on fundraising come  to the atrium period 3 & 4 today. If you are having difficulty meeting the $125 minimum make sure you see Ms Hanley in room 126 either today or tomorrow.

 

·         If you have fundraised all your money for Relay for Life ONLINE, please bring your empty pledge form to the Relay office this week.  If you have fundraised in cash or cheques bring your money to room 136 this week.

 

·         If you are interested in cutting your hair at Relay come to the Relay office at lunch.

·         Relay is fast approaching and that means it’s time to sign up for the dodgeball tournament happening at Relay.  The sign-up sheet is posted in the Devil’s Pit.  Sign up  your team ASAP to participate in the Relay for Life Dodgeball tournament.

 

·         Anyone who raises over $500.00  for Relay gets to throw a pie at Mr Gruber at Relay.

·         A reminder to students who signed up for the qualifier for Halton Math Contest today after school in the cafeteria;  please bring a  $5.00 or $10.00 donation for Relay for Life.

 

·         Attention all grade 12’s:  just a reminder that tomorrow morning is grad breakfast from 8 – 9:30 in the cafeteria.  Come out for some good food and to vote for  your valedictorian and your yearbook superlatives.

 

·         The Concert Band, Senior Jazz Band and Chamber Ensemble all travelled to Ottawa on Monday to perform at the National Band Competition.  All bands played extremely well and all were awarded the silver ranking.  Shout out to Ethan Smith, Abigail Kaye and Michael Zhang who received the National Honour Award for their contributions to their ensembles.

·         Attention DECA:  don’t forget your exec applications are due on Friday.  That’s only 4 more days to get them in.

 

·         During yesterday’s Junior boys soccer game, two rookie players scored their first goals; Manu Landtmeters and Aaru Chandra got not just one, not two but three goals.  Come cheer the boys on Wednesday as they play at 3:30 on the back field.

 

·         The qualifier for the Halton Math contest is this Wednesday after school in the cafeteria.  Sign up in teams of three outside of room 216.

 

·         Today is the second day of the Relay for Life Spirit week and it is only getting more exciting.  Today your teachers will be shaving and waxing their hair during periods 3 & 4 in the atrium.  It is $10  per wax strip so make sure to donate.

  • Hey OTHS!  Coffee House forms are due tomorrow.  Sign up sheets are in the devil's pit.  Get your forms in ASAP!


  • If you are participating in the OT blood drive on May 22nd, please pick up your form today in the atrium during period 3 or 4.  Forms are due back this Wednesday.


  • Hey Team Captains - Today there will be a Team Captains meeting periods 3 and 4 in Ms. Hanley’s room (126).  Please make sure someone from your team attends this meeting as Relay is in just over a week! See you all there!


  • Hey OT!  Today is the first day of the Relay for Life Spirit week!  To kick things off, there will be a scavenger hunt for a chance to win candy and points for your relay team!  Make sure to look everywhere including under chairs and desks. Come down to the atrium during periods 3 and 4 to redeem points!  We can’t wait to see everyone out there and scavenger hunting! Good Luck!

·         Bailey the Therapy dog is visiting OT today.  Come say hello to Bailey in the atrium between 11:45 and 12:45.

 

·         We are still looking for coffee house performers for Relay for Life.  If you are interested in performing go pick up a Coffee House form at the Relay office in the Devil’s Pit.  Forms are due by next Tuesday ( May 14th).

 

·         If you are interested in cutting  your hair at Relay to be donated or just to show  your support; please sign up at the Relay office periods 3 & 4 this week and next.  Your hair must be at least 12 inches long to be donated.

 

·         It’s Mental Health week.   Show your support by coming down today to the  atrium periods 3 & 4 to get a free green ribbon and write down something  you are grateful for.

 

·         All Relay team captains must come down to the Relay office during period 3 or 4 to pick up pledge forms, unless all your team members already have them.  Remember you must have a pledge form  in order to fundraise, even if  you are only fundraising online.

 

·         Ultimate Frisbee is on today after school- see you at Deer Run Park.
