·         The boys soccer team lists will be posted on the gym bulletin board after school.  If  you are a member of the team please pick up a permission form  from the bulletin board for the 1st practice on Monday at 3:30 pm at Pine Glen.

 

·         Buy your OT water bottle on Cashless to support Oakville green conservation association.  Make sure to get one before they sell out.

 

·         The OT Math Team Competition takes place today after school in the cafeteria until 4:30.

·         Attention students interested in Track and Field:  there is an information meeting today after school in room 198.

 

·         The OT Varsity girls soccer team will be having its first meeting tomorrow March 22, at 7:40 am for all girls in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in trying out for this years’ team.  The meeting will be held in room 153 and medical forms will be handed out and important information about the team will be provided.

 

·         Today is the last day to pick up and submit your March Madness bracket picks.  Come down to the atrium during  periods 3 and 4 to do so.  They must all be handed in by the end of 4th period today.

 

·         Anyone interested in participating in the Hamilton Brain Bee may come to room 210 for a quick information meeting after school.

 

·         Interact Club has a short meeting in the library today after school.

 

·         Today is the last day to sign up for  the OT Math Team Competition.  Sign up in teams of 3 outside of Ms Preiner’s room.  Competition takes place tomorrow after school until 4:30 in the cafeteria.

·         There will be an Every Child Now meeting after school today in room 216.

 

·         Today is the final boys soccer tryout  at 3:30 at Pine Glen.  Your permission forms need to be handed in by lunch today.

 

·         There will an OT relay math contest this Friday after school in the cafeteria.  Please sign up in a team of three on the board outside Ms Preiner’s classroom this week.  Top five teams will qualify for the Appleby math competition on April 1st.

·         Maple Grove Church has been putting notices on OT student cars parked in their parking lot.  Students are requested not to be parking in the church lot – in particular tomorrow.  There will be a large service tomorrow and they will be towing any student cars that are parked there.   Students should only be using the OT parking lot.

·         Fare Share Food Bank is looking for student volunteers to help during their Easter food drive.  For details see the flyer posted on the volunteer bulletin board outside the theater.

 

·         The OTHS Varsity girls soccer team will be having its first meeting on Friday March 22nd at 7:40 am for all girls in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in trying out for this years’ team.  The meeting will be held in room 153.  Medical forms will be handed out and important information about the team will be provided.  Attendance on Friday morning is very important, you must get the medical form or you will not be able to try out.

·         Free the Children would like to thank everyone who donated to the “We Create Change Campaign”.  Together we raised $960.00.  Congratulations to Ms Maheshwari’s class on raising the most money.  All of the donations will go towards child immunization and care packages for mothers and babies in Sierra Leone.

·         We would like to congratulate our school’s two robotics teams for their success at their competition over March Break.  Against 30 teams, Thirteen-Thirty-Four made it to quarter finals but  unfortunately were eliminated after a close tie breaker.  However they did win the Judges Award and hope to perform better at their next event in two weeks.

 

·         Congratulations to team Thirteen-Seventy-Four for their performance at the Humber College competition.  They ranked 11 out of 32 teams and made it to the quarter finals.  Congratulations as well to Adil Quettawala for being a Dean’s list semi-finalist for his outstanding contributions to his team.

·         A reminder for students travelling to Chicago with the Music Department in May that your travel documents must be given to Mr Clarke before March break.

 

·         There will be a Math Club meeting today after school in room 216.  We will be announcing important information about upcoming OT team contests and prepare for Euclid.

 

·         Today is the last day for you to bring in donations to your 5th period class for the Free the Children, “ We Create Change” campaign.  The class that raises the most money will receive a pizza party and classes that raise over $100 will win a prize.  Teachers remember to send a runner at the end of the day to bring the bags to the office.

 

·         Congratulations to the athletes of the month for  February:  Varsity boys hockey- Kieran Drover, Varsity girls hockey – Sam Carfrae, Ski team- Matthew Burnes and Snowboard team – Olivia Savage.  Please come down to the phys-19491ed office at lunch today to have your picture taken.  Be sure to check it out on Instagram OTHSathletics.

·         Attention all Model UN members:  there is a meeting today after school in room 102.  We’ll be starting the simulation.  Note that all OMUN and Appleby MUN delegates must attend.

 

·         To all participants who auditioned for the One Act Festival;  the cast list will be posted today outside of the theater.  If your name is on that list, first of all congrats, and there will be a quick 5 min meeting after school in the theater.

 

·         A reminder for students travelling to Chicago  with the Music Dept in May that your travel documents must be given to Mr Clarke before March break.

 

·         Today is the second last day for you to donate to Free the Children’s “We Create Change” campaign with your 5th period class.  Teachers remember to send a runner at the end of each day to bring the bags to the office.

 

·         This past Tuesday and Wednesday the OT swim team competed in Toronto at  the Pan Am Pool for OFSAA.  We had 20 swimmers represent OT at the meet and our Jr girls, Sr girls and Sr boys relays had amazing performances.  Shout- out to Cameron Montague who earned Gold and Silver medals in his individual events.  The coaches want to congratulate everyone who competed and wish the seniors best of luck next year.

·         Do you like supporting a great cause, have fun and possibly win a lot of money?  If so, on March 18th and 19th you have the opportunity to do so by participating in March Madness.  Basketball brackets are only $2 and half the proceeds go to Relay for Life.

 

·         Today is your last chance for you to donate to Free the Children’s  “We Create Change” campaign during your 5th period class.  The class that raises the most money will win a pizza party and classes that raise more than $100 will win a prize.  Teachers be sure to send a runner down at the end of the day with your class’ bag to the office.

 

·         Attention Model UN members:  we will be running a simulation this week.  See you all Thursday after school.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity boys hockey team traveled to Hamilton to take on the Bishop Ryan Celtics in the GHAC semi-finals.  The Devils played a disciplined game and came away with a 4-1 victory. This puts the team in the GHAC finals tomorrow against Jean Vanier Knights.

·         Reminder- AP Exam meeting tomorrow at the beginning of lunch periods in room 191.  All registered exam writers please attend.

 

·         If you are registered for the Music Trip to Chicago in May and missed the trip meeting on Monday, you must see Mr Clarke so that you can get your documents in before March Break.

 

·         Reminder- SHSM students interested in summer co-op must attend SHSM summer co-op meeting today in room 191 at the beginning of either per 3 or per 4 today.

 

·         Badminton students who successfully made the 2019 Badminton team:  are invited to a brief information session in room 120 after school today.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity girls hockey team’s season came to an end after the GHAC semi-finals.  Congratulations to Vanessa Hanley on her Player of the Game.  Well done to the girls on an amazing season, winning the Halton Championship with an undefeated record.  Thank you to the graduating 12’s; Kristen Akey, Sam Carfrae, Alyssa Haylock, Vanessa Hanley, Katie Reilly and Christina Sacha for a great season.

 

·         The March issue of The Devil’s Advocate, OT’s favourite newspaper is out.  Get your free copy from the Library or the library wesite today.

Located on a beautiful enclosed campus in Sydney Australia, UNSW is at the intersection of the East and West a prime location for global learning in science, government, business and more than 200 other degree programs, not to mention just a 10 minute walk from the beach.   Stop by the atrium during your lunch periods today to speak with a representative of UNSW and ask about their direct entry Medicine and Law programs.

·         Are you are registered SHSM student in grade 11?  Are you planning to do SHSM Co-op in the summer?  There will be a mandatory meeting for SHSM summer Co-op tomorrow in room 191 at the beginning of period 3 or period 4. You must attend.

 

·         This is the last week of Free the Children’s “We Create Change” campaign.  Bring in donations to your 5th period class.  The class that raises the most money will receive  a pizza party and classes that raise more than $100 will win a prize.  Teachers remember to send a runner with your class donation bag to the office at the end of each day.

 

·         There will be a short but important meeting for all members of the Varsity boys hockey team today at 2:50 in room 153.

 

·         Interested in joining the LINK crew in the fall of 2019?  There will be an information session today during period 3 lunch, period 4 lunch and after school in front of the gym.  Any student that will be in grade 11 or 12 next year are welcome to apply.

 

·         Huge congratulations to the Varsity girls hockey team who had their championship game this past Friday.  The girls completed their undefeated season by clinching first in Halton in league play and defeating Iroquois Ridge 4-2 in the finals, with goals from Christina Sacha, Katie Bouwman and Sam Rutherford.

·         Attention students attending the music trip to Chicago in May:  we will be having a short meeting after school today in the cafeteria regarding rooming lists and travel documents.
