·         The Ski and Snowboard team had a great showing at the Halton Championship yesterday.  Our school girls team made up of Annika Hambleton, Hailey Jeffries, Morgan Farley, Daniella Visic and Ysabel Yang took home 1st place, while Annika was the 1st place individual racer overall.  Great job girls!  The skiers had a dominant performance across all categories.  In the high school boys division, Randolph Zhang was the 3rd place overall individual racer.  Individual results for the high school girls division, Sophie MacCallum was 3rd overall and Ellie Garry- Jones was 2nd.  On the team side, the high school girls finished in 1st place,  Open girls finished in 2nd place and our high school boys also took home silver.

 

·         The Leadership class will be hosting a Chill- Out room to relax and study today during periods 3 & 4 in room 189 B.

 

·         The Junior boys basketball team defeated White Oaks 48 – 39.  Outstanding shooting by Robbie Kostyniuk and solid play by Chris Uvakov helped the Devils win.  After the exam break the boys have one league game and then head to Playoffs.

 

·         During periods 3 & 4 on Monday you can participate in a fun coin toss for a chance to win candy or the grand prize, a rainbow-coloured metal straw that is not only cool looking but also environmentally friendly.  In addition we will also have a giant jar of candy which you can win if  you can guess the correct number.  So don’t forget to bring your change next Monday.

·         The January edition of OT’s favourite newspaper,  The Devil’s Advocate is hot off the presses.  Check the library website or come down to the Library to get your free copy.

 

·         Attention all DECA Provincial competitors:  We have a meeting after school today in room 198.  Please connect with Ms McAuley if you cannot make it.

 

·         Have you been stressed for exams lately?  OT’s Leadership class is here to help.  We will be hosting a Chill Out room where we will have movies and a great space to study and relax.  It will be held tomorrow in room 189B.

 

·         Come down to the atrium to play ping pong tomorrow periods 3 & 4.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity boys hockey team travelled to Joshua Creek  Arena to play the Trailblazers of Iroquois Ridge.  It was a close game going into the third period with the Devils holding onto a 1-0 lead.  The Trailblazers tied it up midway through the third.  The Devils took the lead on a rocket shot from “Shotgun Mcleish” late in the game.  The team added an empty net goal to secure the 3-1 victory.

 

·         The OT Biennial NYC trip will be this Spring from April 30th to May 3rd and it is open to any student taking  Art, Drama, Music or Comm.Tech either semester this year.  There will be an information meeting today at 7:00 pm in the Library or you can speak to Mr D’Alesio or your Arts teachers.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity girls volleyball team squeaked out their third win of our January games, bringing their record to 5 and 2.  Special mention should go to their tough fought 3 set win over the undefeated Iroquois Ridge.  MVP for January goes to the force of nature that is Zoe Preston.

·         The Junior boys basketball team did not bring their A game against MM Robinson yesterday.  Despite trailing most of the game the boys had a late surge with a final score of 56-55.

 

·         Feeling stressed about exams?  Want a chance to chill with your friends and get some free treats?  Come down to the atrium periods 3 & 4 tomorrow to play some board games run by your Grade 11 Leadership  class.

 

·         Fun Fact:  the newly released edition of OT’s favourite newspaper, The Devil’s Advocate, will be the first edition of the decade.  Come down to the Library to get your free copy.

 

·         Attention Dance Club members:  Dance Club will be moved to Thursday this week.  We will not meet today after school.

 

·         OT’s Leadership class will be hosting a Chill Out room where there will be movies and a great space to study and relax.  It will be held in room 189B on Friday.  See you there.

·         Feeling stressed about exams?  Want a chance to chill with your friends and get some free treats?  Come down to the atrium periods 3 & 4 on Thursday, January 16th to play some board games run by your Grade 11 Leadership class.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity boys hockey team travelled to Joshua Creek Arena to host the Eagles of Abbey Park.  It was a sloppy game but the Devils controlled play on route to a 7-2 victory.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity girls hockey team travelled to Burlington to face MMR.  The girls continued their win streak with a strong team effort and came away with an 8-1 win.

 

·         Attention all Snowboard team members:  you must see Mr Nags today during your lunch or immediately after school in room 104 to get your race forms.

 

·         Have you been stressed for exams lately?  OT’s Leadership class is here to help.  We will be hosting a Chill-out room, where there will be movies and a great space to study and relax.  It will be held in room 189B.

 

·         Make sure to drop by the atrium on Thursday during periods 3 & 4 to play in a water coin toss with a high chance to win a prize!  Bring 25 cents to participate, all money goes to support the Canadian Guide Dog Association.

·         The Junior boys basketball team won their tournament in Georgetown this weekend.  In the semi-final, Ben Fullarton and Max Holmes combined for 33 points in a 57-45 win.  Tournament MVP, James Preston, scored 17 points to  help the team defeat Georgetown 47-45.  Great work by all members of the team to win the gold medal.

 

·         Attention students taking Art, Drama, Music or Comm. Tech this year;  New York City awaits you!  The OT Biennial NYC trip will be this Spring from April 30th to May 3rd, and is open to any student taking Art, Drama, Music or Comm. ·         Are you stressed out for the upcoming exams?  Come down to the atrium during periods 3 & 4 today to participate in the Grade 11 Leadership PositiviTree Project.  Here you  will be able to write and read positive messages to inspire yourself and others.

·         Attention all Model UN members:  if you are interested in going to OMUN,  there is a sign-up sheet posted outside room 208, next to the Moderns office.  It will be taken down today after school so make sure you sign up before then.  We will not have any meetings in January.

 

·         Attention students taking Art, Drama, Music or Comm Tech this year:  New York awaits you!!  The OT Biennial NYC trip will be this Spring from April 30th to May 3rd, and is open to any students taking Art, Drama, Music or Comm Tech either semester this year.  There will be an information meeting Thursday Jan 16th at 7:00 PM in the Library, or you can speak to Mr D’Alesio or your Arts teachers.

·         Yesterday the Varsity girls hockey team took on the Abbey Park Eagles.  The girls scored 15 seconds in and  kept the momentum going throughout the game, earning an 8 -1 victory.  Shout out to Reese Oliver on her 5 goals.

·         Yesterday the Varsity boys hockey team travelled to Burlington to take on the Rams of MM Robinson.  The boys came out fast and took an early 1-0 lead but found themselves down 3-1 at the end of 2 periods.  The team rallied in the third winning the game 4-3 behind 3 goals by Tyler “ Shot Gun” McLeish and stellar goaltending from Alex “The Wall” Zamuner.

 

·         Congratulations to Jason Tang who won December’s Pascal’s Perilous Problem.  Pascal will meet you in math to give you your prize.  See the math board for January’s problem.  Last day to submit your solution will be Wednesday January 22nd.

 

·         Eco-Council will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7:45 in room 223.  This will be our last meeting until February.

 

·         Attention Dance Club members:  Dance Club has been rescheduled and will now meet tomorrow after school.

 

·         Registration for the Canadian Computing Competition is now available online.  Interested students will need to pay the $8.00 fee online as well as pick up a permission form from Mr Wilford.  Any questions see Mr Wilford.

·         Registration for the Canadian Computing Competition is now available online.  Interested students will need to pay the $8.00 fee online as well as pick up a permission form from Mr Wilford.  Any questions see Mr Wilford.

 

·         The Ski Team resumes practice today.  Meet in the weight room at 3 PM.  Even if you are unable to work-out today, you are requested to be present for a brief meeting.  See Ms Pickard or Mr Pope if  you cannot make the meeting.

 

·         Yesterday the Varsity girls hockey team hosted MMR.  The girls dominated play throughout the game and were able to secure a convincing win.  Great job to Katie Maharaj on the shutout.

·         To all Snowboard team members:  today after school is the last chance to make up for any missed practices.  Tomorrow is our final mandatory training day.

 

·         Congratulations to the athlete of the month for December:  For Varsity Girls Volleyball – Lauryn Chew.  Please come down to the phys-ed office at lunch today to have your picture taken.  Be sure to check it out on Instagram OTHS athletics.
