ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FEBRUARY 24, 2017

·         To all students of the Volunteer Outreach Club.  There will be a brief meeting in Rm. 210 this Friday, the 24th.  See you there!

 

·         Picture day for NEW students and NEW staff members is being held on Monday, February 27th in the Library Seminar Rooms between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon.  So if you are new to OTHS this semester, please make sure to go for your photo Monday morning in the Library Seminar Rooms.  New students will get their student cards at that time.

·         Listen up OTHS!!  Calling all Future Grandmasters!  Do you like using fancy words, then come check out OT’s first ever Chess Club, open to all levels starting today in Room 216 at 3:00 p.m.

 

·         This is a reminder that Representatives from Nipissing University will be here today at lunch in the Atrium to give out information and answer questions.

 

·         Yesterday the Concert Band travelled to Hamilton to compete at Music Fest.  They did an amazing job and awarded a Gold ranking and will be going to Nationals in May.

 

·         The Sr. Girls Volleyball Devils played in the Halton Finals.  Aldershot took the first game, OTHS the next two.  Sadly, it was a 5 game contest and Aldershot won.  Congratulations to the Senior Devils on an excellent season!

 

·         The Jr. Girls Volleyball  Team closed their season with a Gold Medal performance at Halton Finals.  The girls struggled with nerves in the first set and then pulled it together to absolutely dominate the next two sets to bring home the Halton Championship.  Congratulations to all the girls on an amazing season!  Go Devils!

 

·         Attention Jr. Rugby players!  Practice on Monday morning is for Grade 9’s and players who did not play last year.  Practice is at 7:00 a.m. in Gym ABC on Monday!

 

·         Are you interested in Pharmacy, Nursing, Dental and more?  Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University is coming to OTHS on Monday, March 6th at 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Main Atrium.  Parents and Students are welcome to drop by and ask Admissions Officer Christine questions about 100+ different health care programs.

 

·         OFSAA Snowboarders, if you want to go to OFSAA and have qualified, you need to bring in our forms and money.

 

·         Yesterday our Varsity Boys Hockey Team travelled to Glen Abbey Arena to take on the Eagles of Abbey Park.  Scoring for the Devils was Alex P., Kieran M., and Niko  M., The Devils won the game to finish regular season.  The Team starts play-offs Monday at Sixteen Mile Creek Arena.  Would teachers please excuse members of the Team all day Monday.  Go Devils Go!  And Good Luck.

 

·         Are you interested in US universities?  Want to know how to apply and tips for doing so?  Are you an athlete that wants to understand the NCAA processes?  OTHS is hosting US COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SEMINAR on Thursday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Theatre.  All students and parents are welcomed.  It is never too early to start planning.

 

·         It’s Friday which means Board Game Club is back!  Periods 3 and 4 in Rm. 189b.

 

·         Concert choir is looking for a piano player to accompany us while we sing Bohemian Rhapsody. If you’re a piano player, come talk to Ms. Pontefract at choir rehearsal. If you’d like to sing in choir, new members are always welcome. Choir rehearses Mondays after school in room 168.

 

·         Last Saturday, OT's finest students pitched an idea on how they can make education more efficient using technology. The Team of Mohamed E., Ahmed E., Justin C., Eric L., Aaron C., Mike B., and Andy Y. competed at Microsoft Canada headquarters and placed 2nd in the Tech Under 20 competition with their app "Slate". Congrats gentlemen on a well- deserved achievement!
