·         This year’s last issue of the Devil’s Advocate is out today in the library.

 

·         Did you know that over one million seabirds are killed by ocean pollution each year?  Three hundred thousand dolphins and porpoises die each year as a result of becoming entangled in discarded fishing nets, among other items and one hundred thousand sea mammals are killed in the ocean by pollution each year.    June 8th is World Ocean’s Day.  Help recognize this important event by joining the Eco-Council during periods 3 and 4 on Thursday and Friday this week in room 226 for a documentary about oceans.

 

·         The results of the National Biology Competition are in :  Oakville Trafalgar High School ranked in the top quarter of all participating schools in Canada.  Congratulations to Lindsey Zhang for achieving the top score at OT with a mark in the 91st percentile of all students in Canada.  Participating students can pick up their scores and test packages from Ms proctor in the science office.

 

·         Congratulations to the athletes of the month for May:  Varsity girls soccer:  Chloe Barltrop, Junior boys soccer:  Oscar Kotynski, Senior boys soccer:  Thomas Cronin, Junior tennis:  Matthew Soroko, Track team:  Kieran Bovington and Varsity boys Lacrosse:  David Hayman.  Please come down to the phys-ed office at lunch today to have your picture taken.
