·         In 1973 six-year old Phyllis Webstad was gifted a brand new orange shirt from her grandmother and wore it to the residential school she attended in British Columbia.  Upon her arrival, school officials removed and discarded the shirt from her and replaced it with a school uniform.  This act represented the mental and emotional treatment of the Aboriginal children and for Webstad, it symbolized that “her feelings never mattered”.  On September 28th communities and schools will be honouring the children who survived the cruel conditions of residential schools and remembering those who did not.  Wear Orange this Friday to show your support.

·         Attention Music Students:  are you interested in joining the Music Dept on a trip to Chicago this May?  There will be an information meeting on Oct 11th in the music room at 7:00 pm.

·         Hey OT, are you interested in athletics & leadership?  Join Athletic Council.  Check out the posters around the school for more details.

·         Are you a fan of strategy?  Does a battle of wits excite you?  Come to chess Club today after school from  3:00 – 4:00 in room 216.

·         Our junior girls basketball team opened their season yesterday at MM Robinson.  Our Devils  had a rocky start but they banded together and worked the nerves out.  Our Devils defense should be commended as they did not allow the Rams to score a single point against them in the fourth quarter.  A solid team effort secured a 34 to 18 win over the Rams.  Top scorers were Sarah Malone with 12 points and Kaitlyn Ruetz and Sabrina Edwards each with 5 points.  Notable defensive mentions go to Sophie Gilbert, Lyra Ahmad and Emma Pont.
