·         Model UN delegates:  please come to a short meeting in room 118 at 2:55 today.

 

·         The Investment Club will have its first meeting tomorrow morning.  What could you do with one million dollars?  Let’s find out tomorrow morning 7:30 in room 232.

 

·         Don’t forget that Candy Grams are being sold all this week in the atrium.

 

·         Attention all students:  are you interested in earning volunteer hours?  How about helping under privileged kids?  Come join us at Skate it up!  February 20th from 4 -9 pm at Canlan Ice Sports.  Meet retired NHL star Darcy Tucker and bid on items like a signed Raptors Lowry Jersey or a McDavid’s Oilers Jersey.  Come to room 225 tomorrow after school for more information about the event and how you can volunteer, or go to bit.ly/skateitupevent.  All funds help Empower Kids.

 

·         The GSA Club is selling tickets for the upcoming Pride Dance on March 24th at Craig Kielburger School.  Come out and buy tickets this week by the atrium for $10.

 

·         There will be a very important EveryChildNow meeting tomorrow after school in room 225.

 

·         The Music Dept is travelling to Italy in May next year.  If you play in a band, take music courses, or sing in a vocal group you can participate.  There will be an information night Monday Feb 22 at 7:00 pm in the Library and a full itinerary is hanging outside of the Music rooms.

 

·         Spain, Germany, France; have you ever thought about studying abroad in any of these countries as part of an exchange program?  If you are currently in grade 9 or 10 and would like to find out more information about  studying in either Spain, Germany or France for 3 months next year, please come to an important information session tomorrow ( Thursday ) in room 116 right after school.

 

·         Junior boys interested in playing soccer need to pick up a permission form and have it signed for practice on Thursday after school in the gym.  Forms are available outside room 197 or from Mr palmer.

 

·         A new semester is a great time to join a new club.  If you are interested in celebrating and honouring the diversity of our staff and student body, stay tuned for further details about a new Multi-Cultural Club at OT- first meeting will be next Tuesday Feb 16th in room 116.

 

·         Yesterday our Varsity boys hockey team traveled to River Oaks to take on the Titans of Holy Trinity.  The team finally got off of the “Shnide” with a 4-0 victory.  Scoring for the Devils was Ben Hamburg, Devlin Forsyth and Jordan Boulding with a pair.  In goal and recording the shut out with a number of acrobatic saves was player of the game John” The Wall” Brooker. 

 

·         Applications are being accepted for the Summer Youth Job Connection program being run by Employment Halton now.  This is 20 hours where you are paid to get help to look for work.  The number of students being accepted for the program is very limited.  Come to the Library Seminar room today during your lunch period to learn more.

 

·         Over the past 3 days OT students competed at the DECA Provincial business competition along with 7000 students from across Ontario.  Students used their business knowledge and problem solving skills to write tests and perform role plays based on cases.  The following students placed in the top 15 in their events: Will Yuan, Alice Jiang, Amanda He, Eva Hong, Stephan Han, Linda Li, Danielle Lim and Lucy He.  A special congratulations goes out to Eva Hong and Stephan Han who placed in the top 10 overall and qualified for the International Competition in Nashville.
