·         Interested in the creative process of the One Act Drama Festival?  The Drama Club will be having a special meeting today in the theater after school for those who didn’t make the meeting yesterday.  It will be brief.


·         Do you want to help support Relay for Life?  Are you interested in gaining some antique and marvelous items?  Come to Oakville Trafalgar High School’s Garage Sale and Bottle Drive on Saturday October 20th from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.  Bring empty wine bottles, beer cans and beer bottles and pick up something amazing.  All proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society.


·         There will be a meeting this Thursday in room 125 after school for all members of the Computer Science Club.  New members are welcome.


·         Did you know that 33% of Canada’s population goes to a food bank each week?  You can help lower this statistic.  Free the Children’s annual We Scare Hunger campaign has begun.  From today until the 31st we encourage you to bring any non-perishable food items and used batteries to be dropped off at the Free the Children table by the atrium.


·         The Senior girls field hockey team lost in the semi-finals yesterday.  The team played extremely well and at the end of regulation time the score was tied at 1.  Katie “ K-Mac” McCarter had scored for the Red Devils.  The teams then played an exciting overtime with Hayden scoring one goal.  Eliza Caven and Paige Burkhart were named the Players of the match.  The team was led by their captains Paige Burkhart, Sonja Cestnik and Jenna Simpson.  Other graduating seniors are Kristen Akey, Halle Belsey, Caitlin Durbin, Erica McCracken, Isabell Pallotta, Ella Roy, Alex Ruetz and Meredith Steven.  Coaches Bull, Cho, Lavery and Groen are very proud of you.  Congratulations on an excellent season.


·         Did you know that Therapy dogs help to lower blood pressure, increase self-esteem and improve your physical and mental well- being?  If you would like to meet an adorable therapy dog, come meet Bailey periods 3 & 4 in the guidance office.


·         Are you interested in leadership opportunities and training?  Why not sign up for the Ontario student Leadership Conference?  The OSLC is a 3 day conference in Niagara Falls from November 4th to 6th.  This year’s theme is “Elevate:  Seek your Summit”  bringing together the best variety of thought leaders, entertainers, speakers and educators who take the time to meet, teach and speak with you.  The conference is currently sold out, but OTHS has secured 20 spots.  Students from all grades are welcome to apply but students from grades 10 -11 are preferred as we want to ensure that the skills, motivation, ideas and energy acquired at the conference get put to good use at OTHS for years to come.  If you are interested see Ms King or Mr Perera in room 213.
